IMG_3740.HEIC

Dr. Hanna Shays is originally from Raleigh, NC, and played elite-level soccer starting at 10 years old. She has participated in the Olympic Development Program, competed at the Region III level and played for UNC Chapel Hill's Club team. Her love for athletics allowed her to discover her passion for biomechanics and how the human body functions.

She received her Bachelor's Degree in Exercise & Sport Science with Honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2016 and went on to receive her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from a Top 10 Program- the University of Florida in 2019. She then made her way down to Palm Beach County to be with her husband, who is a South Florida native.

For 3 years, Dr. Shays worked in stroke rehabilitation. In 2022, she felt the pull to return to her long-time favorite setting: orthopedics. This is when Stability In Wellness, LLC was born.

In general, physical therapists with backgrounds in neurologic rehabilitation are far less common than those with traditional orthopedic backgrounds. This is why both Dr. Shays' background in neurologic rehab and love of manual therapy give her treatment approach an edge, allowing her to effectively address the connection between mind and body.

Dr. Shays is most passionate about assisting active and motivated individuals. Her approach is based on uncovering each patient's root cause to their pain. She takes a special interest in treating low back pain, conditions of the shoulder, knee pain and jaw pain. Dr. Shays is currently pursuing specialization in craniofacial & myofunctional physical therapy and is one of the few therapists in the state of Florida to dedicate themselves to this niche. During parts of the year, she also serves as Adjunct Professor at Indian River State College's Physical Therapist Assistant Program.

Currently, Dr. Shays' caseload includes Ultra Marathon Runners, Equestrians, Professional Paddle Boarders, weekend warriors, massage therapists, pilates instructors and lots of TMJ dysfunction.
